On Both Sides of the Clyde

Saturday walking on the north bank & Sunday across the bridge & driving through snow down to Inverkip.

It does appear rather odd to be clambering over snow covered rocks down to the sea to take photos of snow-capped Ben Lomond & The Cobbler, but well worthwhile.

One of my sons phoned me on the moby & I missed what would have been such a stupendous shot of horse & rider just riding straight into the chilly water.

The sun was high & so was I.

The Glorious Gongs of Mount Meru

We had just passed the point of no return: 35 years wed & we asked our boys to get us tickets for Martin Carthy @ Fraser Centre, Milngavie.

As usual, it was a frozen, icy night & as Martin is now 70, you have to see him while you can.

It was a superb gig & he is the elder stateman of the 60s folk scene, one of the few English Folkies I would venture out to see (Kate Rusby being another).

Dolphin's Smile

We seem to be going all nautical. Listening to Beach House like Bubble Beach but I am off on a dolphin kick remembering how much I love the Byrds' Dolphin Smile first heard on the 'Rock Machine' samplers CBS.

I am going back to hear Dolphins into the Future since that Broadcast big up of them in 'Wire' best of 09.

I am also fond of Dolphins of East Berlin............so there we are then.

Lunchtime Capers

Anyone who knows me understands that this is true:

Last week being diabetic, I had to urinate in the Royal Concert Hall. I went downstairs to the loo taking care to enter the correct loo for my sex status & paying close attention as the doors are really close to each other.
On entering I could not find the urinals, but I thought they might be at the back. However on my way I thought I glimpsed an old woman at the sinks.

Naturally, without wasting much time & to avoid embarrassment, I headed into the nearest cubicle, feeling sorry for the silly old woman for making such a basic mistake. As I left behind the woman, I thought she is going to be so shocked when she discovers her mistake. Yes dear reader, it was the ladies!

Amidst the Noise

Volcano the Bear drops me into the middle of strange planes, deserts surrounded by dense tropical forests inhabited by flute & bongo playing jazzers from way over the other side.

An Idiots Guide to Walking the Forth & Clyde Canal in Winter

The way I see it, the days are short & not always dry, therefore it is permissible to plan accordingly.

I have been walking the canal in short bursts. Recently I walked from Archerhill Road, Knightswood to Lock 27 at Bearsden Road. I then, on another occasion, covered from there to Maryhill Locks.

On the latter stretch, as the sun shone brightly in the afternoon, 2 foxes were this close, but as I grabed for my camera, they spoke to each other (I could not make out the conversation exactly), but they just turned around & walked away.
I crossed the canal, but they were well gone, however I did obtain a few snaps to remember the day.
